Tibetan Bells are ancient musical instruments with a rich, deep sound that promote relaxation and inner well-being.
Tibetan bells were used in traditional Eastern medicine more than 6,000 years ago.
According to Eastern thought, the universe and man would be derived from sound. Through the resonance of Om, the listener would be led back by sound to the origins of being.
Tibetan bells, with their primal sound of creation, would be able to rebalance the vibrational state of our body, bringing harmony.
Tibetan Bells are very different from our traditional bells. The differences begin with their shape, which is that of a bowl.
Their material is also peculiar in that they are made of an alloy of metals. They usually contain five to seven, each related to a different planet in our solar system: lead (Saturn), tin (Jupiter), iron (Mars), copper (Venus), mercury (Mercury), silver (Moon) and gold (Sun).
The size of the bells and the percentage of metals within them have an effect on the tone, vibration, and sound quality produced by the bell.
In addition to their appearance, Tibetan bells also differ from ordinary bells in the way they are used. In fact, they do not need to be hung but should be held in the palm of the hand, on the body or placed on top of a soft shelf.
The concave part is turned upward and played by tapping or rubbing the rim with a fabric-covered wooden knocker. This rubbing causes the sides and rim of the bowl to vibrate, producing a rich, full Om sound.
What are its beneficial effects?
Man, as well as every element in nature is composed of atoms that vibrate.
According to Eastern medicine, when we are in a healthy state all these frequencies vibrate in harmony. Unfortunately, modern rhythms and the resulting stress make it easy to lose this state of balance.
It is therefore especially in modern times, with its hectic pace, that Tibetan bells have found uses in stress reduction. After listening to them, emotions are calmed and the mind clearer.
When used in combination with other mindfulness practices, such as meditation and deep breathing, they can become a powerful ally in achieving a higher level of concentration and self-awareness.
Although its true origins remain a mystery to this day, its sounds have beneficial influences on physical, mental and spiritual levels.
Benefits on the body:
- They induce deep relaxation in the muscles
- Give relief from pain caused by contractures
- They calm breathing, improving blood circulation
Benefits on the mind:
- Relieve mental and emotional tensions
- improve concentration
- help increase self-confidence
- improve creative potential
- indicate a state of balance and harmony
- increase the feeling of bliss and lightness
The spherical sounds of the Tibetan bell engage all our emotions, generating a state of deep inner and outer stillness.
Only if a person is in tune with himself and his environment will he feel strong, happy and healthy. However, many external influences as well as increased stress, undermine this underlying harmony. The sound emitted by the bells makes vital energy flow and helps us clear the body and mind of problems and anxieties.
